Thomas K. Kim Engineering Scholarship sponsored by Compix
Media, Inc. Born and raised in South Korea during WWII and
Korean War, Thomas grew up next to a U.S. Army Base where his
father ran a small electronic repair shop. As a child, he had the
privilege of getting his hands on TVs, radios, and projectors which
were rare commodities at the time. This influence has helped
Thomas land a career at KBS, a major television broadcasting
station where he served for twenty years and became the chief
technical director. Thomas went on to start his own
manufacturing business, Compix Media, which supplied on-air
graphics for the 1986 Busan Asian Games and the 1988 Seoul
Olympic Games. To fulfill his lifelong dream of living in America,
he and his family moved to Los Angeles in 1995 where he set up
his company's global headquarters. As a follower of the American
Dream, Thomas believes that life should be better and richer and
fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability
or achievement, regardless of age, sex and any other
circumstances.
